This post will be a jumble of thoughts. We had a strange occurrence this evening. Steve and I volunteered at the Emergency Food Shelf after work. There are a variety of things you can do, but our group was in charge of taking a giant bag of rice and packaging it into 2lb bags to be given out. The giant bag of rice was in the middle of the room.
The majority of you are thinking "thanks for the weird picture of a bag of rice" BUT the rest of you are thinking, "small world!". St. Hilaire is a small little town just miles from my parents house and Thief River Falls where we grew up. I looked them up when we got home. Their website is www.drybean.com. Now, a lot of you may be thinking that it is strange that a place in St. Hilaire donated rice to the food shelf. Well actually they didn't. Once we got started, Steve opened up the bag and said, "aah this is beans". Good thing they had us crafty northerners on the team to know the difference:) So, we didn't actually get to package what St. Hilaire Seed Company donated.
Not too much to report on the Simon front. We did request that they send us an update after his 1st birthday, which is less than 2 weeks away! I also dropped off a care package last week with just the recordable book that we couldn't send earlier. That's the only thing that can fit in a gallon size bag. We have been informed now that we can send as many care packages as we want since our wait is so long. However, Simon will start going to the agency every other month for check-ups after his birthday so it will take longer for him to get what we send and be less opportunities for them to send us information.
