The moment Steve has been waiting for for the past almost 2 years has arrived. We brought Simon to a Gopher hockey game! It was the season opener and started at 6pm, which was great because we were able to enjoy a little more of the game before needing to go home. Simon was super psyched the day of and was talking about seeing Goldy and chanting Hockey Game on the way there. We went to our (my) favorite place Burrito Loco beforehand. Simon was very popular with the college ladies. They were ooohing and aaaahing over him as soon as we sat down and he looked at them dead serious and says, "hockey game". I thought they were going to faint.
He enjoyed our walk to the game and lots of snacks during the game. He watched the game a minimal amount but was well behaved. We were next to the student section so I think he enjoyed watching them (and hopefully didn't learn any new words) and the tuba players made a big impression on his as well. One guy came over to us and let Simon push the different buttons while he blew in it so he could hear the different sounds. The Fox Sports North girls also drooled over him and asked if they could take a picture with him?! After the fact I realized I should have taken a picture of him with all the hot girls for his baby book. Sorry teenager Simon.
Then we spotted Goldy and it was all over. He went right up to him but Goldy was sorta busy and thus began our stalking of him. Simon was following him around saying "hug? hug?". Of course when we caught up to Goldy Simon froze and wouldn't hug him so I ended up in the picture with Goldy.
Our first game with S was a success, but Mom and Dad are going to enjoy the next few games alone and bring Simon again during the holiday classic. On the way out we ended up buying the foam finger because he fell madly in love with it. He was being so funny on our walk out and once again people were stopping us to talk about how cute he is. He may also have been a little delirious from getting tired and acting extra goofy...

One of my all-time fav. posts! You should post the video of Simon and the U of M chant. A Gopher in the making.
